About Zerowait

From its beginnings as a developer of software programs for high availability inventory applications, Zerowait continues to focus on the backbone of today's high availability networks--infrastructure maintenance and technical support. This breadth of experience has given Zerowait the knowledge and customer focus it needs to service our world-wide customer base.

As our early international assignments led to increased usage of the Internet for the transmission of inventory data and status reports, referrals led us to begin working with deploying large numbers of servers on the web as Web Servers. These deployments led us into the specialty area of high availability computing and load-balanced disaster prevention solutions. By 1999, our sales were about 10% of the sales of a major player in the switch-based, load-balancing arena, Arrowpoint, for whom we were an OEM. Upon Arrowpoint's purchase by Cisco for several billion dollars, the existing OEM Agreements with Zerowait were abrogated, forcing Zerowait to adapt and to concentrate on other areas of our business including computer storage and backup.

By this time the folks at Network Appliance (NetApp®) had gained a reputation for excellence in highly reliable storage. Their filers were synonymous with reliability, simplicity, and performance, and their NetCache product, built on a filer base but optimized for web content, was a no brainer for our ISP customers. Plus, for our customers with BIG DATA, such as banks and scientific organizations, NetApp's filer was the clear answer for storage, access, and backups. Zerowait went to NetApp's HQ in Sunnyvale and worked to develop a national reseller agreement. Soon we became one of the first NetApp® Registered Service Providers. Using our knowledge of high availability infrastructures, we rapidly grew to be a very successful and knowledgeable NetApp® reseller with loyal customers who appreciated our honest approach to their strategic storage plans.

As the Dot Com boom imploded, NetApp decided unilaterally to cancel our agreements and forced Zerowait to change its course once again. By late 2002, as NetApp’s service and support costs skyrocketed, our loyal customers worked with us to develop a comprehensive solution that provided them a Next Business Day (NBD) advanced parts replacement solution along with an Incidental Technical Services (ITS) component. Faced with burgeoning maintenance costs, end-of-lifed hardware, and their storage salesman's constant pressure to "Buy New!", the legions of disaffected NetApp legacy filer owners grew. Yet their equipment was sound, operating reliably as ever. Customers came to us to extend the life of their existing systems. Via word of mouth amongst our customers, our reputation and customer list expanded quickly and so we began working with leasing companies to help them remarket their NetApp equipment inventory with transferable licenses. Zerowait rose to the challenge and expanded to meet the demands of the marketplace. We continue to provide our customers with unbiased affordable long term service and support solutions for their NetApp infrastructures.

Mike Linett and Zerowait have prospered through turbulent times in the networking and storage business because we listen to our customers and we provide excellent service at reasonable prices.
